Description
27" (68 cm). Pressed bisque socket head with very
full lower face, blue glass paperweight inset
eyes with darker blue outer rims, painted lashes,
incised eyeliner, mauve blushed eyeshadow,
brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented
eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth,
shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde
mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and
wooden fully jointed body with original bisque
lower arms with attached bisque ball-joints for
stringing attachment to upper arms, elegantly
posed chubby fingers with defined knuckles and
nails. Condition: generally excellent, two
fingers imperceptibly re-glued at joints. Marks:
12 (raised). Comments: attributed to Joanny, the
model exactly resembles other signed dolls by
that maker, circa 1885. Value Points: rare doll
with outstanding quality of bisque and painting,
rare body with bisque arms, wonderful antique
costume featuring blue knit with cotton lace
trim, maroon silk ribbons, blouse, undergarments,
shoes and socks.
