Description
15" doll. A maroon paper box contains a
complete doll, and three additional doll heads,
designed to be used interchangeably with the
single body, each is bisque socket head,
three with painted eyes in blue or brown
having painted upper lashes and black and
red upper eyeliner, closed mouth in pouty or
smiling expression, one has blue glass sleep
eyes and open mouth with four porcelain
teeth. Each has original brunette or blonde
mohair wig over plaster pate; the body is
composition and wooden ball-jointed.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 182
(head on body), 183 (smiling), 179 (pouty), B
171 6 (glass-eyed),(body is stamped
Germany). Comments: Kestner, circa 1911,
the box has original Kestner crown and is
marked "Kestner Character Doll". Value
Points: superb unplayed with condition, with
all original wigs and pates, original body and
muslin chemise, beautiful painting.
