Description
14" (35 cm). Wooden framed sedan chair, known as
chaise a porteur, is finished in very rich gold
leaf with hand-painted floral and leaf
decorations on all four sides and roof; on the
back side, which is bombe shaped, there is a red
blue-winged bird that dangles a garland of
flowers forming the letter M; with bronze mounts
on each side for supporting carrying handles, and
bronze door handle; the interior is rose silk
faille with silk fringe at the window edges. The
base has original boutique label from Au Nain
Bleu in Paris. Excellent perfectly preserved
condition, and very rare deluxe model. Circa
1885.
