Description
2" dolls. 6"D. drum. Six wooden dolls depicting
vibrantly costumed villagers in festival costume
have painted facial features, costumes, carved
arms, loosely jointed legs. The dolls are posed
on a paper-trimmed toy drum with attached ratchet
handle that, when turned, causes vibrations and
cause the dolls to "dance" about in an amusing
way. Mid-19th century, Germany, the dolls were
popularly sold in Germany, and appeared in Paris
stores as though made in France. Excellent
condition with splendid color well preserved,
unusual drum construction.
