Description
21" (53 cm). Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-
edged bisque shoulderplate, very plump modeling
of cheeks, brown glass enamel inset eyes with
spiral threading, dark eyeliner encircles the eye
socket, dark painted lashes, incised eyeliner,
brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, mauve
blushed eyeshadow, shaded nostrils and eye
corners, closed mouth with defined space and
suggestion of painted teeth between the shaded
and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human
hair over cork pate, original kid bebe body with
gusset jointing at hips and knees, curved kid
upper arms, bisque forearms with separately
sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: (circle/dot symbol on head) No. 7
(shoulderplate) (original Bru label on body).
Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1880, the
earliest version of the model known
as "circle/dot". Value Points: exceptionally fine
detail of modeling, bisque and painting, original
body in sturdy condition, perfect bisque hands
and outlined nails, lovely antique dress of
velvet and silk with lace detail.
