Description
19" (48 cm). Pressed bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lightly painted lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered details, accented nostrils, mauve blushed eyeshadow, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over Schmitt plaster pate, original composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and flat-cut derriere. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9 Sch (in shield on head) (partial Sch mark on bottom derriere). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880, the model closely resembles the E.J.A. bebe by Emile Jumeau but is unusual in this smaller size. Value Points: rare size Schmitt with appealing character expression, fine quality bisque, original body and body finish.
