Description
12" (30 cm). Bisque swivel head on kid-edged
bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom, brown
glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral
threading, painted lashes, brushstroked brows,
accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth
with slightly parted lips, outlined lip, blonde
mohair wig over cork pate, original kid bebe body
with gusset jointing at hips and knees, curved
kid upper arms, bisque forearms with separately
sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent,
mechanism turn knob missing. Marks: Bru Jne 2
(head) No.2 (shoulder) (original paper label on
chest). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, the Bebe
Teteur, one of the first versions of this beloved
doll, c. 1880. Value Points: appealing tiny size
with original mechanism intact inside head,
original labelled body, beautiful bisque, antique
costume included.
