Description
10" (25 cm). Standing upon a three-wheeled
tinplate base with mechanism hidden below
is a bisque-headed doll with grey glass inset
eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows,
accented nostrils and eye corners, closed
mouth with accented lips, blushed cheeks,
blonde mohair wig over cork pate, paper
mache torso and legs, bisque forearms.
When wound, the girl moves forward, revolves
in circles and waves her arms while turning
her head. Condition: generally excellent,
mechanism functions well. Marks: G. Vichy
Fils Paris (on base). Comments: Vichy, circa
1870. Value Points: appealing gentle toy is
enhanced by beautiful face of doll, original
brown silk costume and rare miniature straw
bourrelet (walking cap) suggesting the doll
was designed to imitate a newly-walking baby.
