Description
2 1/2"h (6 cm). Of thick paste porcelain, with
flat-cut neck socket and high domed forehead, the
head portrays an adult with slender shaped face,
aquiline nose, painted brown eyes, black
eyeliner, lightly feathered brows, accented
nostrils, closed mouth with firmly shaped lips,
blushed cheeks and ears. A band of pinholes
encircles the upper cut pate suggesting use for
adherence of wig. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: Nouvelle Galeries (paper label on back of
head). Comments: maker unknown, probably mid-19th
century. Value Points: artistically painted
features, unique wig system.
