22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full cheeks, brown glass sleep eyes which operate from lever at back of head, dark eyeliner, painted lashes with "dot" highlights, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, open mouth with upturned lip corners and double row of tiniest teeth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, cork pate, French composition fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, hands retouched. Marks: Figure B 15 J. Steiner Bte SGDG Paris (head) Le Petit Parisien Bebe Steiner Medaille d'Or Paris 1889 (body) J. Steiner (eyes). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1885. Value Points: the rarity of the bebe is enhanced further by finest delicate bisque and painting, dainty tiny teeth, original signed eyes, original body, and beautiful antique costume.
