Description
22" (56 cm). Paper mache shoulderhead
portraying adult woman with cameo shaped
face and elongated throat, small enamel
glass inset eyes, painted lashes, arched
brows, accented nostrils and eye corners,
open mouth with two rows of teeth, original kid
fashion body with very shapely torso,
gusset-jointed hips, one piece shapely legs,
stitched and separated fingers. Condition: very
good, original finish preserved, kid patching at
lower arms, gown skirt is very disintegrated.
Comments: French, circa 1850. Value Points:
the beautiful early fashion doll wears her
original tacked-on gown, exquisitely fitted (and
well-preserved) on bodice, has original
undergarments, slippers, pearls, and
elaborate wig with ringlet curls at the front and
tightly wound chignon at the back decorated
with silk flowers.
