Description
12 1/2" (32 cm). Bisque socket head with
unusual shaping combining childlike
roundness and angled "pear-shape", blue
glass spiral threaded inset eyes, lightly
painted lashes and eyeliner, brushstroked
and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed
mouth with defined space between the
outlined lips, defined dimple indentation
below the mouth, pierced ears, blonde mohair
wig over Schmitt painted plaster pate, French
composition and wooden
eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight
wrists and flat-cut derriere. Condition:
generally excellent, firing ridge high on
forehead (under wig) that is absolutely original
to the making. Marks: 000 Sch (in shield, on
head) Sch (in shield, on bottom of derriere).
000 (paper label inside wig) 000 (incised
mark on pate). Comments: Schmitt et Fils,
circa 1882. Value Points: a most beautiful
transitional model of the firm has original
signed wig and pate (virtually impossible to
find), body and body finish, original chemise,
earrings, and wears lovely antique lace dress
and bonnet, leather shoes.
