24" (61 cm). Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, very plump modeling of cheeks and chin, blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading of eyes, rich dark eyeliner encircles the eyecut, painted lashes, mauve blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, defined painting of teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, very plump kid body with gusset jointing at hips and knees, bisque forearms with separately sculpted fingers, defined knuckles and nails. Condition: generally excellent, few patches at body joints but overall very sturdy. Marks: (circle/dot symbol on head) Bte SGDG (forehead) 9 (shoulderplate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1880. Value Points: an outstanding example of the early Bru bebe has superior bisque, compelling eyes enhanced by rich dark eyeliner, painted teeth, perfect hands, and lovely antique silk costume.
