Description
26" (66 cm). Pressed bisque socket head with
elongated facial modeling, blue glass
paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner
encircles the eyecut, painted curled lashes,
brushstroked and multi-feathered brows,
accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed
mouth with defined space between the
shaded and outlined lips, separately applied
pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork
pate, French composition and wooden
eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight
wrists and very plump limbs. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: E.J.A. 10 (head)
Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body).
Comments: Emile Jumeau, his earliest rare
portrait model bearing his initials. circa 1880,
the model was made for two or three years
only, in only two sizes. Value Points: an
exceptional example of the rare and
expressive bebe, has superlative bisque,
sculpting and painting, owning her original
cork pate with lambswool wig (frail) having its
original comb, original earrings, wearing
antique costume with gold metallic soutache
trim, Au Merite badge, undergarments, leather
shoes.
