Description
16" (40 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass
paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes and
eyeliner, brushstroked brows, accented
nostrils and eye corners, open mouth with
O-shaped accented lips, blonde mohair wig
over cork pate, French composition and
wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 6. Comments: Leon
Casimir Bru, circa 1890, his Bebe Teteur or
nursing Bru was first deposed in 1879; the
doll continued in production for 20 years. The
doll was designed with unique rubber ball
mechanism in head that was activated by turn
screw at the outside back. Value Points: in
pristine unplayed with condition, the doll
wears its original white pique baby ensemble,
has complete original mechanism and rubber
ball in head, and is stored in its original Bru
box with directions for play in 7 languages.
