Description
10" hotte. 8" (21 cm.) doll. A flat-backed wicker
basket with curved front is lined with lace-edged
fabric which contains an assortment of tiny doll
accessories, viz. soap, combs, brush, puff, cup
and plate. The exterior of the basket is edged
with a pique costume comprising jacket, pants,
cap, socks, teething ring, little toy. Inside the
basket is contained a bisque socket head doll
with blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes and
brows, closed mouth with pouty expression, mohair
wig, composition bent limb baby body, muslin
chemise, along with an assortment of little baby
toys. Condition: generally excellent, unplayed
with. Marks: SFBJ 247 Paris 0. Comments: SFBJ,
circa 1912, the Etrennes presentation gift was
offered as an exclusive by Paris department
store, and is still stored in its original
(unlabelled) box. Value Points: superb and
imaginative presentation is perfectly preserved.
