Description
23" (58 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass
paperweight eyes, painted lashes, rose
blushed eyeshadow, thickly fringed and
feathered brows, accented eye corners,
shaded nostrils, open mouth, shaded and
outlined lips with tentative smiling expression,
row of tiny teeth, pierced ears, brunette human
hair, French composition and wooden fully
jointed body with kid-over-metal-hinge at hips.
When keywound, the bebe lifts its legs up and
down as though in walking movement.
Condition: generally excellent, mechanism
functions well. Marks: A 15 Le Parisiene Bte
SGDG (head) Magasins des Enfants,
Passage de l'Opera Paris...(paper label on
back). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1890,
the doll was patented as Bebe Marcheur or
Bebe Petit Pas. Value Points: with beautiful
facial painting, the rare doll wears her original
rose cashmere wool dress and bonnet, and
has original Paris doll shop label.
