Description
17" (45 cm). All cloth doll with felt swivel
head, pressed and painted facial features, brown
side-glancing eyes with white highlights, grey
and brown eyeshadow, lightly feathered brows,
accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent dots
on bottom lip, blonde mohair braids, firmly
stuffed muslin body with jointing at shoulders
and hips, celluloid hands. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: Poupees Raynal (paper label)
(shoes also signed Raynal). Comments: Raynal,
circa 1928, the firm began doll production on
this date although earlier they had made plush
and felt animals. Value Points: the pretty girl
is preserved in near mint unplayed with condition
in her original box labeled model 601, wearing
original costume of Alsace including coiffe,
necklace with figural design of child's head and
inscribed "Raynal".
