9 1/2" doll. 16" armoire. A wooden armoire
with original painted white finish and blue
stenciled detailing, opens to reveal well-fitted
interior with blue-ribbon tied folded linens,
cast iron trivet and iron, along with a bisque
socket head doll with brown glass sleep eyes,
painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils
and eye corners, open mouth, four teeth,
pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, composition
five piece body with walking style legs, painted
black stockings and tan shoes. Condition:
generally excellent, unplayed with condition.
Marks: 1078 Halbig S&H (doll). Comments:
the presentation armoires appeared in Paris
Etrennes catalogs at the end of the 19th
century; models were exclusively created by
each store. Value Points: fine unplayed with
condition, the little girl wears her original
silk
Normandy style costume.
