Description
13" (33 cm). The wooden sedan chair, known
in France as "chaise a porteur" has hinged
front door, double-curved back, five windows
in ornate cut-out shapes, interior seat, curved
top, two carrying handles, and is richly
decorated in gold with three medallions of
Renaissance style faux-paintings. The
decorations and faux-paints are deliberately
darkened, with craquelure, to achieve an aged
appearance. Excellent condition. Circa 1890.
