Description
17" x 10" card. 8" doll. A heavy cardboard form
with decorative paper borders and label "La
Bonne Peche" (the good fisherman) is
preserved in its unplayed with condition,
having a bisque-headed man surrounded by
fishing equipment and a number of tin-plated
fish, each still tied to the card. The bisque
socket head doll has sculpted black
watch-cap, grey hair and fulsome grey beard
and moustache, grey glass eyes, original five
piece paper mache body with painted black
boots and brown flannel suit. A lithographed
card depicting fishermen at work is below the
label. Excellent condition. Perfectly preserved,
the rare arrangement was presented in
1890-era holiday catalogs from Paris
department stores.
