Description
16" (40 cm). Upon a wooden grass-painted platform is arranged a large wooden chair with painted scroll and clown decorations. A bisque-headed clown with glass eyes, white clown complexion with painted red designs, is attached to the chair with metal rods. The rod is also attached to a wooden handled-bellows at the base, and when the bellows is pushed the doll performs a series of amusing acrobatic tricks on the chair. Condition: bisque, platform and mechanism excellent, original silk costume is somewhat frail. Marks: 12/0. Comments: French, circa 1890. Value Points: wonderfully amusing toy with original costume, painted surface, functions perfectly.
