Description
18" (46 cm). Bisque socket head with very
deeply modeled features, brown glass sleep
eyes, painted lashes, dark eyeliner encircles
the eyecut, painted lashes, brushstroked and
feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed
mouth with row of painted teeth between the
pale outlined lips, blonde mohair wig, early
composition and wooden body with
six-loose-ball-jointed body, straight wrists,
antique costume. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: 12. Comments: Kestner,
circa 1885, the model is referred to as
"Kestner Bru" because of its resemblance to
the circle/dot bebe by Bru. Value Points: very
rare early doll by Kestner with superb detail of
modeling and painting, original body and body
finish.
