24" (61 cm). Bisque socket head with rounded childlike modeling, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes with "dot" highlights, thickly fringed and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with upturned lip corners having a hint of smile, painted row of teeth between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool fleecy wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sie F 5 (incised) Steiner B.S.G.D.S. Paris (red stamp). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1885. Value Points: exceptionally rare model by Steiner is virtually unknown in this large size, has superb expression with deeply impressed dimples in cheeks, philtrum and lip corners, lovely bisque and painting, original body and body finish, and very fine antique lace dress and bonnet, antique undergarments, leather shoes signed C.B.
