Description
11" doll (28 cm). 14" with cushion. All felt doll
of light brown complexion portrays a rajah or
Turkish royal man seated on cushion, having
painted facial features with narrowed side-
glancing eyes, painted eye shadow, broad nose,
widely smiling mouth with with coral shaded
bottom lip, very large wrapped felt turban, plump
body posed in seated position with bent knees and
right elbow. Condition: very good, some light
fading. Marks: Lenci, Made in Italy, No. 168
(partial paper label). Comments: Lenci, circa
1930. Value Points: very rare model with superb
imaginative detail of costume includes appliqued
felt elephants and embroidered lizards on jacket,
wooden jewelry and fan, felt slippers with
upturned toes, seated on brown/black felt
tasseled cushion.
