Description
24" (61 cm). Pressed bisque socket head with plump lower facial modelling, almond-shaped brown glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner encircles the eyecut, painted lashes, mauve blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, blushing on pierced ears, original lambswool wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and very plump modelling. CONDITION: Bisque excellent, body original with dent in back hip, repair to lower right leg. MARKS: Jumeau Medaille d'or Paris (body). COMMENTS: Emile Jumeau, circa 1878. VALUE POINTS: Outstanding early bebe in grand size with superlative modelling, bisque and painting, original body, antique costume including blue woolen cap and cap with soutache embroidery.
