Description
15" x 9" box. A firm-sided box with decorative
paper covers and gilt label "Modes Bebe" contains
within an arrangement for teaching milliner art
by constructing hats for little dolls. On the
tiered arrangement are six wooden hat stands,
each with miniature hat for 8"-10" bebe or 15"-
16" poupee. The hats are of various materials and
are semi-decorated. The box contains silk
flowers, laces, trims and other materials for
continuing the decoration of the bonnets. "Modes
Bebe" was offered in Parisian Etrennes catalogs
at the end of the 19th century. Excellent
unplayed-with condition.
