Description
26" (66 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass
paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner encircles
the eyecut, painted dark lashes, incised
eyeliner, brushstroked and feathered brows, mauve
blushed eyeshadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth
with space between the shaded lips, separately
applied pierced ears, dimpled chin, blonde mohair
wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden
fully jointed body with straight wrists.
CONDITION: Generally excellent, finish on finger
tips worn. MARKS: Depose Jumeau 12 (head, with
artist checkmarks) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris
(body). COMMENTS: Emile Jumeau, circa 1885, the
first registered bebe model of Jumeau, made for
one or two years only. VALUE POINTS: Exceptional
quality of bisque and painting, especially
detailed about the mouth, original wig, pate,
body, body finish, antique Jumeau muslin flower-
print chemise dress, antique shoes and socks.
