Description
14" (35 cm). Pale bisque shoulderhead with plumply modelled face, cobalt blue glass enamel eyes with black outlined sockets, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, unpierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid fashion body with shapely waist, stitched and separated fingers. CONDITION: Generally excellent, kid repair on right wrist. MARKS: 1. COMMENTS: Barrois, circa 1865. VALUE POINTS: Outstanding original couturier-made trousseau accompanies the doll, comprising the costume worn by the doll of peach gown with lace trim and long lace veil, undergarments, velvet shoes, jewelry; along with purple velvet gown with ivory satin banner, rich lace trim and long train; sheer muslin three-piece gown of lavender and cream stripes; cream linen and dark blue two- piece gown with lace trim; ecru satin gown with ivory satin and lace trim, long train; and folklore style costume with laced velvet vest, striped silk skirt and lace-edged apron. The six costumes, of couturier quality, are entirely original to the doll and in wonderfully preserved condition.
