Description
17" (43 cm). Solid domed bisque socket head with
pink-tinted bisque, sculpted hair with modelled
forelock curls, modelled stuck-out ears, intaglio
blue painted eyes glancing to the left with
prominent black glazed pupils and white eyedots,
black and incised eyeliner, short stroke brows,
accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth
with very full and shaded lips, impressed dimples
at lip corners, composition and wooden ball-
jointed body. CONDITION: Generally excellent.
MARKS: Heubach (in square) 35 Germany. COMMENTS:
Gebruder Heubach, circa 1912, from their early
character series, the model is probably 8035
(although the 80 is imperceptible), a partner to
the girl character 8050 (see next lot). VALUE
POINTS: An exceptionally rare model of the
Heubach firm with superb modelling appearing as
though pressed and choicest bisque and painting,
wonderful original costume in the folklore style.
