Description
Including 7" diameter plate of black and white design with central panel labelled "Etrennes" and the message (in France) "here's a man who'll be happily greeted". The man is carrying armfuls of toys and dolls that he has just purchased from the shop "Au Paradis des Enfants" seen in the background, stamped "J. Viellard on reverse. And 8 1/2" diameter plate in brown and cream design with lavish exterior border centering a design of 1850 era woman standing in the middle of her toy shop with a bounty of dolls, toys, toy drums, Polichinelles and such surrounding her, and the shop name "Au Tambour Rouge" and message (in French) "a grand assortment of children's toys". Both excellent condition, French, circa 1850.
