7" H (18 cm) A seven piece ensemble of doll furniture from 1875 era French salon comprises settee, two arm chairs, two straight chairs, table and firescreen. The wooden frames are elegantly carved and richly ornamented with pure gold leaf and retain their lustrous finish. The table has red leather top with gold tooled embellishments of bird, crown, and flowers. The seated furniture is upholstered in rich rose silk that is very deeply tufted with rose silk covered buttons, patterned silk braid at the edges held by gilded studs. The screen has matching silk cover and braid trim, but is also decorated with elegant embroidered arrangement of flowers and leaves. Each of the pieces except the screen have an original paper label on the underside, "A La Galerie Vivienne, Mon. Guillard, Jeux & Jouets, Remond Succ....Paris". That Paris doll shop, begun in 1831 by Francois Guillard, was operated by Jules-Adolphe Remond from 1861 until its closing in 1882, and specialized in luxury dolls, trousseaux, and doll accessories. Superb original condition, the luxury furniture ensemble is near pristine. Circa 1878.
