Description
12" (30 cm) doll. Bisque socket head, amber brown
glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral
threading, dark eyeliner encircles the eyecuts,
painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows,
accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed
mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced
ears, waist-length blonde flowing mohair wig over
cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-
loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists.
CONDITION: Generally excellent. MARKS: R. 4/0 D.
COMMENTS: Rabery and Delphieu, circa 1884. VALUE
POINTS: In pristine unplayed with condition,
having beautiful complexion and bisque, the brown-
eyed bebe has early original body and is
presented in the base of her original box edged
with paper and real lace, and containing an
assortment of costumes: maroon woolen dress,
maroon silk dress with velvet bonnet, and white
pique bebe costumes. The doll wears her original
muslin chemise with knitted socks, rose silk
ribbons, rose bead earrings. A French newspaper,
dated 1885, is laid in the box.
