Description
5" H (13 cm). A thick-carton-paper box with hinged lid has hinged mirror suspended between wooden brackets. The box is covered with glass over tortoise-patterned paper and is decorated with various embossed paper edgings and medallions. The mirror is edged with gilt paper and the brackets are decorated in red with gilt star patterns. The box may have originally served as luxury candy container box with after-use as doll play. Contained in the box are doll's brushes with faux-tortoise handles. French, circa 1865, perfectly sized for display with fashion dolls. Very good condition.
