Description
10" L (25 cm). A wooden platform with
lithographed paper cover and tiny metal spoked
wheels displays two bisque-headed dolls, each
with blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes,
feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye
corners, the smaller with closed mouth, other
with open mouth and teeth, mohair wigs. The
figures are attached to simple pull-string
mechanism and when the toy is pulled along, they
turn their heads back and forth, beat the drum
and clang the cymbals. CONDITION: Generally
excellent. COMMENTS: Germany, Zinner & Sohne,
circa 1890. VALUE POINTS: An amusing and well-
functioning toy with wonderfully silk-costumed
jesters, paper decorated drum and floor.
