Description
10" L (25 cm). A wooden platform with lithographed paper cover and tiny metal spoked wheels displays two bisque-headed dolls, each with blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, the smaller with closed mouth, other with open mouth and teeth, mohair wigs. The figures are attached to simple pull-string mechanism and when the toy is pulled along, they turn their heads back and forth, beat the drum and clang the cymbals. CONDITION: Generally excellent. COMMENTS: Germany, Zinner & Sohne, circa 1890. VALUE POINTS: An amusing and well- functioning toy with wonderfully silk-costumed jesters, paper decorated drum and floor.
