18" (46 cm). Felt swivel head with center-seam, black shoe-button eyes, painted thick brows, single line mouth, stitched-ears, stitched on blue woolen cap with red band, firmly stuffed torso with well-fed stomach, hinged arms and legs, felt oversized hands and feet. CONDITION: Good, some spotting on nose, leather belt worn. MARKS: Steiff (original button in ear). COMMENTS: Steiff, Germany, circa 1911, a variety of soldier dolls were created by artist Albert Schlopsnies for the firm at that time. VALUE POINTS: The doll wears original blue woolen felt uniform with red felt edging, collar and cuffs, brass buttons, matching cap and trousers, black leather boots and belt.
