Description
15" L. Standing upon a wooden platform with metal
spoked wheels and "snow" crusted surface is a
bisque doll wearing woolen costume and knit cap,
painted orange shoes, a paper mache donkey with
flocked finish, "nodding" head, paper harness and
feed bags, and a wooden windmill with steps and
blades. A simple mechanism is hidden beneath the
platform which causes the miller to turn his head
and wave his stick at the donkey, the windmill to
turn, and the donkey to nod his head, when pulled
along. CONDITION: Generally excellent. COMMENTS:
Circa 1897, the pull toy was featured in the 1897
Etrennes catalog of Paris department store, Au
Louvre. VALUE POINTS: Rare and perfectly
preserved pull-toy with amusing activity.
