Description
8" x 8" box. 3 1/2" dolls. Two black-complexioned
all-bisque dolls each have black glass enamel
eyes, closed mouth, black fleecy wig, jointed
arms and legs, painted white stockings and black
one-strap shoes, original maroon silk wrap over
cotton dress, undergarments. They are arranged
within a paper-decorated box with glass window
front and gilt paper edging. Within the box are
four pieces of antique dollhouse furniture
finished in maroon silk upholstery and stencilled
designs. CONDITION: Generally excellent.
COMMENTS: Dolls are probably Kuhnlenz, circa
1890, the arrangement made for the French market
at that time. VALUE POINTS: Perfectly preserved
condition, the two dolls having fine rich
complexions with character like expressions.
