Description
23" L. (58 cm). An open-front wooden stable has
four stalls with watering trough and three metal
hay racks, each separated by carved edge wall and
fancily turned column with gilt and blue painting
and appliqued column mount; another with a larger
open space for storage of the wagon. The stall
has a half-roof painted blue with black edging
and surmounted by an illustrative stable sign
with decorative engraving of horse and two dogs.
The sides of the stable have painted stenciling
and windows. The stable is pencil marked on the
underside "1509 oAz/11.50". Very good condition
with some typical paint fading and rubs. Germany,
attributed to Christian Hacker, circa 1890.
