27" (68 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass
paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes,
brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented
eye corners, shaded nostrils, open mouth, shaded
and accented lips, row of porcelain teeth,
pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate,
French composition and wooden fully jointed body
whose torso contains the cylinder phonograph
system invented by Henri Lioret, tin door for
covering of phonograph, keywind and lever at back
torso. CONDITION: Generally excellent. MARKS:
Tete Jumeau (red stamp on back of head). Bebe
Jumeau Phonographe SGDG HL Marque Depose
(cylinder) 754 (stamp on mechanism). COMMENTS:
Emile Jumeau, circa 1892, in collaboration with
the phonograph inventor Henri Lioret. VALUE
POINTS: A rare model with early phonograph
mechanism, muslin chemise with stomach flap for
access to the mechanism, antique shoes, stockings
and bonnet.
