French Bisque Bebe by Schmitt et Fils with Unique Face

Description
The early bebe has pressed bisque socket head, brown glass enamel inset eyes in hand-cut eye sockets, faintly painted lashes, narrow feathered brows, accent dots at eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth in solemn expression with accent line between the lips, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, original composition and wooden body with attached ball-joints and straight wrists. The doll wears antique costume comprising lightweight apple green dress with lace collar, pale green silk bonnet, undergarments, knit stockings, brown leather shoes. Marked "SCH (in shield) Bte SGDG" on head, and "SCH" in shield on bottom of derriere. Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880, a very uniquely modelled face by this firm. 10" (25 cm).
