Description
From a series of dolls named "Bebe Reclame"
produced for Paris department stores, the poured
bisque socket head doll has very large brown
glass paperweight inset eyes, dark painted curly
lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows,
accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips,
pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate,
original composition and wooden fully jointed
body. The doll wears antique costume comprising
pin-striped rose and white cotton dress with
dropped waist, wide collar with lace edging,
undergarments, silk bonnet with floral trim, rose
silk stockings, black leather shoes marked "2",
and carries a tiny all-bisque mignonette with
swivel head. Marked "2" with untinted square at
back at head for store label, and "Jumeau
Medaille d'Or Paris" on body. Emile Jumeau, circa
