Description
A white carton gift box with gilt edging and
lettering "1891 Etrennes" on the lid opens to
reveal a well-fitted lace-edged interior
containing a little bisque bebe and her
trousseau. The bisque doll has blue glass
paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes and
brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye
corners, closed mouth with shaded lips, pierced
ears, blonde mohair wig over Steiner pate,
original composition body jointed at shoulders
and hips. The doll wears rose silk dress with
lace edging, undergarments, black stockings and
leather shoes, lace cap, and owns six additional
garments and various accessories including puff,
jump rope, opera glass, and perfume bottle.
Signed "A 0 Paris" on head and "Le Petit
Parisien" on torso. Jules Steiner, circa 1891. 8
