Description
A bisque socket head doll has long-faced
modelling, very tiny brown glass enamel inset
eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked and multi-
feathered brows, accented eye corners and
nostrils, slightly parted lips, four tiny teeth,
brunette mohair wig in coiled braid, original
early composition and wooden fully jointed body
with straight wrists. The doll wears antique
costume comprising cotton calico dress, print
cotton apron, petticoat, pantalets, black
stockings and shoes, straw bonnet, and carries
wooden Grodnertal doll. Signed "325/0". Germany,
mystery maker, circa 1890. 11 1/2" (29 cm).
