20" (51 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, brown sculpted boyish hair with long tousled bangs, small brown glass sleep eyes, painted curly lashes, tinted brows, accented nostrils, open mouth with bow-shaped lips, two porcelain lower teeth, muslin body, composition lower limbs, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Copr by J.L. Kallus Made in Germany 1394/. Comments: Baby Bo-Kaye, designed by the American sculptor Joseph Kallus, circa 1925, made in Germany; the wonderful Kallus doll models ranged from expressive bisque dolls such as this Baby Bo-Kaye to colorful composition dolls of the 1930s such as Jeep (lot #501 of this catalog). Value Points: rare model with wonderfully expressive and endearing features, choice bisque and modeling.
