All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features and rich ebony complexion, dark eyes with red upper eyeliner, fringed brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with full lips, sculpted ears, black fleecy wig, stitch-jointed body with bare feet, brown sateen torso cover, well costumed in antique dress, apron, cap, and undergarments. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: The Chase Stockinette Doll Made of Stockinette and Cloth, Stuffed with Cotton, made by Hand, Painted by Hand (label on torso). Comments: Martha Chase, Pawtucket. Rhode Island, circa 1900.
