18" (46 cm.) The St. Nicholas figure is hand-carved wooden with jolly cheeks and pronounced nose, painted blue eyes, and with very thick brows, moustache and long beard, with hand-painted complexion and features, and the beard and brows having original over-layer of wax to achieve a glow; the mouth is hinged to open and close when user's hand is inside torso, and the figure is well-designed for use with handy holding knob hidden inside. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, late 1800s. Value Points: wonderful figure with great expression, original finish well-preserved, original costume.
