19" (48 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with sharply chiseled, yet kindly, features, hawk- like nose, jutting chin, painted blue eyes, grey lower eye shadow, single- stroke brows, firmly-set lips, white mohair wig, wire spectacles, cloth stitch-jointed body, paper mache lower arms, wearing antique costume (possibly original) and with early chest banner "Mother Goose". Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, maker unknown, late 1800s. Value Points: very distinctive modeling of the storybook figure is well preserved.
