Description
5 1/2" (14 cm.) Each is a very firmly stuffed all leather baby with pressed facial features on swivel head, impasto painted blonde hair, oil painted complexion and facial features, outlined blue eyes, "O" shaped mouth, bent limb body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1915, the studio maker of the dolls, of which very few are known to exist, remains unknown although some clues indicate their origin as examples of the dolls of the Russian/Paris emigre movement of post WWI. Value Points: rare little dolls with expert craftsmanship, original finish, wearing their original matching brother and sister costumes which are also beautifully crafted.
