Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with fine characterization of cheek bones and chin, almond-shaped blue glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, widely-arched brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, auburn mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 111 7. Comments: Simon and Halbig, possibly for Kammer and Reinhardt's art character series, this being the glass-eyed version of the 111 character which was registered in 1910; just as with the 112 and 114 models it was likely created with either painted eye or this sleep-eyed version. Value Points: the extremely rare model has finest quality of bisque and painting, original body and body finish, compelling wistful expression, and outstanding original rose silk costume comprising dress with matching bonnet and reticule, undergarments, socks, shoes, and rose silk parasol.
